ชาวพังงาชูป้าย-ยื่นหนังสือแสดงจุดยืน คัดค้านการขอใช้พื้นที่ตั้งฐานทัพสหรัฐอเมริกา
ที่บริเวณหน้าศาลากลางจังหวัดพังงา ภายในศูนย์ราชการจังหวัดพังงา (8 ตุลาคม 2568) มีมวลชนจำนวนหนึ่ง นำโดย นายดุสิต บู่ทอง ผู้แทนจากสมาคมประชาสังคมพังงาแห่งความสุข นายนายศิริพงศ์ ก้อนทรัพย์ รองนายกองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลป่ากอ ร่วมกันเดินถือป้ายข้อความที่เขียนด้วยลายมือเป็นข้อความทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ แสดงจุดยืนว่าชาวพังงาคัดค้านการที่ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกาขอใช้พื้นที่ฐานทัพเรือพังงา ตั้งฐานทัพหรือทำกิจกรรมทางการทหาร โดยมีนายบัญชา ธนูอินทร์ รองผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัดพังงา พร้อมด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่ศูนย์ดำรงธรรมจังหวัดพังงา เป็นผู้รับมอบหนังสือ
นายดุสิต บู่ทอง กล่าวว่า ประชาชนในจังหวัดพังงา ได้รับกระแสข่าวเกี่ยวกับการขอเข้ามาใช้พื้นที่ (ทับละมุ) ในจังหวัดพังงา โดยประเทศมหาอำนาจอย่างสหรัฐอเมริกา เพื่อใช้ในการทหาร ซึ่งอาจเป็นการตั้งฐานทัพทางการทหาร ก่อเกิดความวิตกกังวลของประชาชนส่วนหนึ่งในพื้นที่เกี่ยวกับผลกระทบที่จะเกิดขึ้น ทั้งในเรื่องของวิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชนในพื้นที่ สิ่งแวดล้อม สังคม เศรษฐกิจ และความมั่นคงของประเทศ โดยเฉพาะในจังหวัดพังงา เป็นจังหวัดสำคัญในด้านการท่องเที่ยวของประเทศ การมีฐานทัพทางการทหารอาจส่งผลกระทบต่อการท่องเที่ยวในพื้นที่ รวมถึงส่งผลกระทบต่อวิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของประชาชนในจังหวัดพังงา ซึ่งมีความหลากหลายในด้านต่างๆ จากการที่เห็นประเทศต่างๆ ที่ใช้ตั้งฐานทัพ ไม่พบว่าจะทำให้เศรษฐกิจของเขาดีขึ้นแต่อย่างใด รวมถึงการที่พื้นที่จะตกเป็นเป้าการโจมตีของประเทศคู่ขัดแย้ง ขณะที่ทางรัฐบาลยังไม่มีท่าทีที่ชัดเจนในเรื่องนี้
นายดุสิต ระบุอีกว่า แม้ว่าเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวจะยังไม่เกิดขึ้น แต่ประชาชนในจังหวัดพังงา ได้ตระหนักถึงผลกระทบที่อาจเกิดขึ้นหากเกิดการใช้พื้นที่ดังกล่าวขึ้นจริง จึงขอแสดงความคิดเห็น และจุดยืนคัดด้านการเข้ามาใช้พื้นที่เพื่อการทหารของต่างชาติ และขอร่วมกันยื่นหนังสือฉบับนี้ไปยังผู้ว่าราชการจังหวัด หากเกิดกรณีการจะขอเข้ามาใช้พื้นที่ในทางการทหารในอนาคต ไม่ว่าจะจากมหาอำนาจฝ่ายใดก็ตาม ประชาชนในจังหวัดพังงา มีความประสงค์จะใช้ชีวิตให้เป็นไปตามปกติ และยึดมั่นในสันติ รักษาความมั่นคง และประโยชน์ของประเทศชาติ
Phang Nga – Residents Protest Against the U.S. Request to Establish a Military Base
On October 8, 2025, reporters stated that a group of Phang Nga residents gathered in front of the Phang Nga Provincial Hall within the provincial government complex to express their opposition to the United States’ request to use local territory for a military base. The group, led by Mr. Dusit Buathong, representative of the Phang Nga Civil Society for Happiness Association, and Mr. Siriphong Konsap, deputy chief of the Pak Kor Subdistrict Administrative Organization, marched while holding handwritten signs in both Thai and English, declaring their firm stance against allowing the U.S. to use the Phang Nga Naval Base area for military purposes.
The petition was formally received by Mr. Buncha Thanuin, Deputy Governor of Phang Nga, along with officials from the Phang Nga Damrongtham Center (the provincial complaint and mediation office).
Mr. Dusit Buathong stated that residents of Phang Nga Province had learned of reports that the United States — a global superpower — was seeking to use an area in Thap Lamu, Phang Nga Province, for military purposes, possibly to establish a base. This news caused concern among parts of the local population about potential impacts on their way of life, environment, society, economy, and national security.
He emphasized that Phang Nga is one of Thailand’s key tourism provinces, and the establishment of a military base could harm tourism and disrupt local livelihoods. He noted that in other countries hosting foreign military bases, such arrangements have not necessarily improved their economies; rather, such areas often become targets in international conflicts. Meanwhile, the Thai government has yet to issue any clear position on this matter.
Although the event has not yet materialized, the people of Phang Nga are aware of the possible consequences if the area were indeed used for foreign military purposes. Therefore, they wish to express their opinion and stance opposing any such use of local land by foreign powers. The group’s letter to the provincial governor requests that if any future proposals to use Phang Nga territory for military purposes arise — from any superpower — the local people’s desire to live peacefully, preserve stability, and protect national interests be respected.
